Study on Phase Inversion Characteristics of Heavy Oil Emulsions
نویسندگان
چکیده
Rheological properties of different heavy oils and their emulsions were measured using RheolabQC rheometer, and their phase inversion were observed using XP-300C microscopic image system. The viscosity of water in oil emulsions constantly increases as the content of bound water rises, and suddenly decreases while it increases to a certain extent, which is corresponding to its phase inversion point, a condition parameter that can be effectively lowered with a suitable chemical and enhanced by high-rate and/or long time stirring. The increase of inner phase concentration can promote the oil-water interface rupture and eventually make the inner and outer phases inversed.

Investigation of the effect of different parameters on the phase inversion temperature O/W nanoemulsions
Objective(s): Nanoemulsions are a kind of emulsions that can be transparent, translucent (size range 50-200 nm) or “milky” (up to 500 nm). Nanoemulsions are adequatly effective for transfer of active component through skin which facilitate the entrance of the active component . The transparent nature of the system and lack of the thickener and fluidity are among advantages of nanoemulsion. Mate...
متن کاملPhase inversion of ionomer-stabilized emulsions to form high internal phase emulsions (HIPEs).
Herein, we report the phase inversion of ionomer-stabilized emulsions to form high internal phase emulsions (HIPEs) induced by salt concentration and pH changes. The ionomers are sulfonated polystyrenes (SPSs) with different sulfonation degrees. The emulsion types were determined by conductivity measurements, confocal microscopy and optical microscopy, and the formation of HIPE organogels was v...
متن کاملFlow characteristics of concentrated emulsions of very viscous oil in water
This paper advances ideas and presents experiments on the flow characteristics of concentrated emulsions of Venezuelan bitumen in water plus surfactant. These emulsions are studied under a variety of flow conditions, namely between rotating cylinders, in a colloid mill and in pipes. The ideas advanced here concern the modeling of the highly viscous bitumen drops as solid spheres and their fract...
متن کاملOil-in-oil emulsions stabilised solely by solid particles.
A brief review of the stabilisation of emulsions of two immiscible oils is given. We then describe the use of fumed silica particles coated with either hydrocarbon or fluorocarbon groups in acting as sole stabilisers of emulsions of various vegetable oils with linear silicone oils (PDMS) of different viscosity. Transitional phase inversion of emulsions, containing equal volumes of the two oils,...
متن کاملEffective Factors on the Stability of Oil-in-Water Emulsion Based Beverage: A Review
Beverage emulsions are systems that are composed of two liquids including oil and water which are prepared by homogenizing oil phase in an acidic aqueous phase. They must be stable in both concentrated and diluted form for a period of 6-12 months upon standing at room temperature. Two immiscible phases contained systems are thermodynamically unsta-ble. In other words, they are vulnerable to bre...
